Self-care is an essential practice that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit. As a massage therapist with a deep belief in the body-mind-spirit connection, I understand the significance of holistic well-being. I will be including tools I use in my self-care regimen. Here's a short and simple self-care regimen to help you achieve balance and well-being without overwhelming you, small steps my friends, small steps:
Crystal Therapy: Begin your self-care routine with a little crystal therapy. Choose crystals that resonate with your intentions, like amethyst for relaxation, or rose quartz for self-love. Hold the crystal in your hand, close your eyes, and set a positive intention for your day. Don't be afraid to explore other amazing crystals...the internet is a great place to find them, and don't worry I will be talking more about crystals in future blog posts.
Meditation: Take a few minutes to meditate. Find a quiet space, sit comfortably, and focus on your breath. Meditation can calm the mind, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity. I personally use quiet music in the background to help me at the end of the day and focusing on my breath. Sometimes I add aromatherapy or add my PEMF mat from Higher Dose to enhance my experience. Sitting still and petting your dog or cat is a form of meditation. Do what works for you and let the worries fall away.
Essential Oils: Use essential oils for aromatherapy. Diffuse calming scents like lavender or frankincense to create a soothing atmosphere. You can also apply diluted essential oils to your pulse points for a grounding effect. Make sure to use trusted essential oils, NOT fragranced oils. 100% therapeutic grade! I use doTERRA, do the research and find your favorite brand.
Exercise: Physical activity is vital for overall well-being. Engage in your favorite exercise, whether it's yoga, dancing, or a nature walk. Movement not only benefits the body but also lifts the spirit. It really does! Walking is my go to exercise. I also use the Fascia Blaster by Ashley Black after a workout to help remove any knots and adhesions that are causing me pain.
Healthy Diet: Nourish your body with a balanced, nutritious diet. Incorporate fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your meals. Proper nutrition supports both physical and mental health. Veggies and I do not get along so sometimes I use powders in my smoothies to get those nutrients into my body. I also add a multi vitamin. My favorite is GEM daily essentials.
Mindful Breathing: Throughout the day, practice mindful breathing. Take a break to inhale deeply, hold for a moment, and then exhale slowly. This simple act can bring focus and relaxation. This is something I do all day, especially after each client. I want to be in the best mind for each client.
Positive Affirmations: Use positive affirmations to boost your self-esteem and well-being. Repeat affirmations like, "I am worthy of love and care" or "I am in perfect balance." I do this every morning before my day starts. I have a joy journal where I write my affirmation down and what I am grateful for.
As a massage therapist, I share these self-care practices with my clients. I Encourage them to integrate these elements into their daily lives for lasting well-being. I encourage you to do the same. Look for a local massage therapist and book that massage, you won't regret it!
Remember that self-care is a personal journey. Adapt this regimen to your individual needs and preferences. By nurturing the body, mind, and spirit, this self-care regimen can help bring balance and well-being into your life.
